During the forum, about 50 performing art professionals from Afghanistan, Central Asia, Europe and Russia will participate in the Round Table on Cultural Diversity and Dialogue in the Cultural Policies of Central Asian Countries supported by UNESCO. This round table has been conceived to raise regional awareness and promote UNESCO’s Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity (2001) and the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (October 2005) in the region.
The main objectives of the forum will be to strengthen regional and international dialogue and cooperation through the creation of a Central Asian performing arts network and to increase capacity building of cultural actors.
This meeting is co-organized by three NGOs: CAI (Central Asian Initiatives), CANAC (Central Asian Network for Arts and Culture) and IETM (Informal European Theatre Meetings), with the continuing support of the Art and Culture Network Programme (OSI Budapest), HIVOS, SDC and UNESCO’s Division of Cultural Policies and Intercultural Dialogue in Paris and the UNESCO Office in Almaty.
